Christmas will soon be out of the way (i guess you can tell i'm a little bar humbug!) and we will soon be able to concentrate on our gardens once again.

Post Christmas is often when I find I can start to enjoy my garden again. I seem to have this inner feeling that spring is on the way and summer is just around the corner and I can see the images of the sun shinning down on my magnolias.

Ah......

So I would like to suggest some festive gardening tips that will set your garden up for a lovely 2008.

After the Christmas festivities most households will find that they have a large amount of waste food that they need to get rid off. Well, DON'T GET RID OF IT! Keep it!

All that slop and gruel-type looking stuff will be loved by your garden. And all the Brussel Sprouts that everybody left on the Christmas Day or New Years Day meal will be ideal for making a special compost for your garden.

So put all the food left overs in one large container (depends upon how much leftovers you have) and simply place the slop and container outside in a dry place for 7 weeks. After this seven week period return to your containers and simply spread the mushy contents over your plant bedding areas.

Over the next 22 days you can watch as your home made compost makes your planting or bedding areas and absolute haven for both plant and shrub growth.

Throughout 2008 you will then see your garden plants looking like they have never looked before.

Do you need Garden or Landscape Design services?
